The Origin Series is a collection of short reflections I first shared on LinkedIn— stories and insights that connect my professional path with key U.S. tax concepts. Each post offers a glimpse into how experience shapes expertise.
I’ve always been drawn to origin stories— the way they ground us in our past, shape our present, and inspire our future. Today, I begin my own Origin Series by sharing a quote that’s been an anchor in my personal and professional journey:
"Grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change,
Courage to change the things I can,
And wisdom to know the difference."
This is the Serenity Prayer, often attributed to American theologian Reinhold Niebuhr. Though widely known, its origin is deeply rooted in resilience and clarity— qualities that guide me through moments of uncertainty and growth.
As we reflect on this message, it feels timely to honour Father’s Day— a day that can evoke a range of emotions.
To those celebrating a supportive father or father figure today:
I hope you feel seen, cherished, and uplifted.
And to those for whom this day brings complexity, absence, or grief— whether through loss, distance, or unmet expectations— I want to hold space for you. Your story matters too.
No matter our origin, we have the power to choose courage over fear, growth over stagnation, and to move forward with wisdom.
Happy Father’s Day. 💙
Here’s to the stories that shape us and the choices that define us.
